The Afghan Hound dog breed comes from the mountains of Afghanistan. They are a very glamorous breed but they are also a great hunting dog.

Afghans first arrived in Britain in the early 1900s and in America in 1926.

They are a large dignified dog that gives the impression of great power and speed. The males are 27 to 29 inches tall and 60 pounds and the females are 25 to 27 inches tall 50 pounds.

Afghan Hounds are intelligent dogs that can appear to be reserved and aloof. But they do like to play sometimes as well. Japanese Akita

The Japanese Akita dog breed is classified as a "Utility Dog" which is basically the classification for all dogs that don't fit into one of the dog breed categories: hounds, gundogs, terriers, working dogs, or toy dogs. Some prefer to say that a utility dog is one that is first and foremost enjoyed for it's companionship.

The Japanese Akita is a larger dog. The male stands between 26 and 28 inches tall while the female is 24 to 26 inches tall. They usually weigh around 110 pounds.

They are powerful dog with a bear like face. They have a head with a broad skull and a medium length muzzle. Their noses are black and they have small almond shaped brown eyes. Their coat can be of any color. See an example of an Akita dog in the picture below:

Puppies will naturally be jumping up on you a lot. The key to stopping this behavior is not through negative training (we don't believe in negative training of any type) but just by ignoring your puppy when he is jumping on you. You never give him reward when he jumps on you. You ignore him and act like he doesn't exist. Soon he will come to realize that jumping on you is a really bad idea! As soon as he's back down on the ground and no longer jumping on you then you give him a great pat on the head and much encouragement.

Make sure your puppy associates it's name with happy and fun things. Let's say your puppy's name is Spot. You should always say things like "Spot, it's dinner time!" and "Spot, it's time to play in the park!" but when you not happy with your dog it's best to not even use their name at all.
